Thanks Derek! I did not know it was Harry’s only #1 hit. This is a song that is hard to forget once you have heard it which is why it went to the top.

Good job on this classic, Doug. Harry is one of my faves and has been a huge influence. Hard to believe this was his only #1!

Thanks for the inputs on my 3D printing adventures Brian! I had planned to do a similar one with Pringles containers because acoustically this design is pretty quiet. Not sure if I’m losing the vibrations through the frame or the plastic bottles. So what you hear is pure piezo pickup!

Stay tuned, though, in the last few days I found a new 3D printed tuner design that passed my jury rigged tension test for fishing line strings. I am printing a modified version now, as I type, for a 2 or 3-stringer test instrument. I am cautiously optimistic of how they will hold up with plastic gears in a true use test.

It certainly is an old classic Kale! I find it easy to identify with the lyrics. They are sobering, yet I do enjoy doing the song.

I’ve done Canjo’s with 2 cans before, but that 3D printed frame changes everything in the way of sound & vibration, brilliant!! You’re really getting quite creative with that 3D printer these days!!

Glad you liked our song choice and the 3-string Surf Brian! It’s a new 32” scale length neck on the Pontune body with 500, 200, and 100 lb test fishing line tuned GGD. Was finally able to get the low G without green trimmer line.

Yea, it helped them get their 15 minutes, but were gone in a flash afterwards? The original is always the best I say? Great song choice slingers!!! A fave of mine!! 3 string Surf sounds great Doug!!  :)

Thanks Uncle John and AGP! I’m only familiar with the Harry Chapin version. This one is an ambitious  1-finger song because there is a lot of movement up and down the neck and the pattern is not as familiar. But it is well worth the effort to learn.
