As with my first one, I built a box because I only have a few nice cigar boxes. Saving them for when I know what I'm doing (which could be "never"). On this one, I put in proper frets and markers (walnut plugs on maple). The finish turned milky but otherwise, it plays pretty good. I still have a good way to go, learning the slide and style...

Oops, the picks... slower is faster. whenever my right hand wasn't doing anything, I'd practice rolling against my leg or the arm of a chair, whatever was around to get the feel for it. The picks still feel like they're a mile away from the strings - just takes getting used to I suppose.

Have fun with your new banjo. I bought one a few years ago. It was tough for me to get the picks to work (edward scissor hand is exactly how it feels. too funny!). I still throw picks once in awhile. They always go under something low, deep, and dirty.

Ok, how did you get that action so tight? Seriously, any tips you're willing to offer are greatly appreciated!

hey warren thank you so much for the kind comments, and the friend request, (accepted) I can help you with a low action build if you show me how to play with the edward scissor hand picks, hehe he , I have a set but they feel so awkward to me, you make it look easy, guess I better learn because I just bought a banjo. great playin by the way stay cool bro.

Warren, I appreciate your modesty, but it is misplaced. The socket isn't the only craftsman in this video. That gitty sounds fantastic. And your technique with the socket is too solid for you to be "learning the slide". Lol.
I'm looking forward to more!
