"We use black  walnut all the time as fretboards (when I say all the time, I mean hundreds and hundreds of them) and  it's absolutely fine. It does not need a finish, just a light application of lemon oil or similar fretboard…"

I like odd stuff. Am an odd guy. Love woodworking but pretty much suck at it, and these don't have to be perfect. Been playing slide for over 40 years and want to make functional, funky rigs for these cold Maine nights. And i have 120 board feet of walnut to play with!!
