yeah you can play it we made a pick that was about 9 and half inches wide lol, talk about some bass, no in all honesty we had to cover the hole so people wouldnt throw crap in it. but we did play around with it!! the whole thing is about 22 ft tall
Hi Ben!
Look forward to playing the Tin Guitar!
Will send details of that Ammo Box Guitar shortly.
Nice meeting you back at the CBG Fest.
Play it cool my friend, and I like the Youtube vids!
I think we have the makings of a redneck banjo army! I will provide the straw hats, but you need to provide your own dungarees and George Formby CDs...
Yeah thanks Roosterman i was born in cheltenham , moved away came back to tewkes , just brought a house in malvern ! Looking at your site some great guitars .
Cheers
Trev
Careful Ben, doubling up banjo stylie? Welcome to the dark side. There's no turning back! Maybe we can launch a banjo offensive at the next festival? straw hats and blazers at the ready!
On a more serious note, I can't help but notice on your website, while namechecking some worthy contenders, you have overlooked the inspiration you have obviously gained from my banjo skills (cleverly smuggled onto the cbg...) through the video of my "performance" at the festival in October. On second thoughts, you don't want to scare people off...
thanks fer the comment on the omar build bro,its yet got one more crazy experiment with it that is not ordinary. if ya get a chance to look more closely at the next set of pics i post, after the frets are installed you will see that they look crooked.it is because they are crooked, they have the same angle to them as i put on the bridge. instead of the fan fret system i going to try an angle fret system to see how it turns out haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa. it may not be worth a flip but hey that is one of the reasons i build removable fingerboards.the top of the frets where the top string is is in the exact place it should be but the bottom of the same frets [all of them] is just a slight tad bit angled twords the body of the guitar. hope all is well where you are bro. take care.
Hi Ben,
I posted the boxes at my local post office yesterday.
I sent repy to a 'don't reply email' so gain-mmy email address is I have a paypal account with that email address.
Cheers, Pigeon Pete.
Hi Ben, good job on the orders for guitars. When are you packing in the day job? Had a wee lookie at your website, and julian's new one too. If I didn't know better, I'd have thought you two were a couple of pro's! The new build sounds good to my ears (but then I play the banjo so I'm not sure if I should trust that).
Thanks for the comments. this was my second. I left the sound post in. Because i was new at this, i had no idea what it did? still dont. Thought it would help with strength.
Hi,
The 3 boxes are for sale, (everything I own is for sale these days).

Hi,someone on here (Juju) recommended your guitars to me. The thing is I bought a couple of CBG's off eBay, but when they came although they look great the frets are all messed up and not in the right place!! Someone is going to take a look at them for me to see if he can sort them out, but if not I'll be sending them back for a refund and be on the look out for something else......wondering what you have and at what sort of prices???
Hi Ben
Thanks for the reply and info on the neck width. I think with this one I am going to work it through, stick with it and see how it goes. In future I may look for a narrower neck, but see how this one comes out first. I guess for everyone the first build is probably the one you learn most from. I will try and post a picture or two along the way. Hope the weather wasnt too bad yesterday up in your neck of the woods- didnt sound much fun.
Best wishes, Alan.
I'm good Ben, good to hear from you. Went to see Redshaw who was supporting a guy down at the boardwalk last week. His diddley bow went down well, and his paper mache guitar that his mate made.
Just waiting for some glue to dry at the moment... and then just bolt it all together to see how it sounds. This is the bit that stresses me out. All that effort, and then it sounds shit.
