I used to go to school in Grantham. This was convenient as my parents and grandparents used to live there as well.
As I've started to play fiddle, I recently converted one of my early cigar box ukuleles to a 4 string cigar box mandolin so that I can practice fingering without disturbing the neighbours.
Hi there,
thanks for your delightful greeting of 'honey'. It's been a long time (my choice) since I was called such things.
So, if you mean cigar box playing, at present I'm only playing local open mic stuff around the area that I live, but, as the wounded knee shows little sign of healing, cycling looks out of the question again this year so I might do a little busking. I did play at the slide festival last month.
If you meant the ukulele try www.sleafordukuleleorchestra.co.uk it will give you all of our near future events. Virtually all of them are in Lincolnshire. If you get to the facebook page of our site, check out the music and, in the photos section, check out this seasons publicity shot. It was taken whilst we were shooting a video to promote one of our recordings, Dr Jazz. We were dressed in (approx) 1920s gear - Lincolnshire is not 100 years behind the times.
Thanks a lot for your comment and perhaps we will meet up at one of the gigs or a ukulele festival.
No wasn't that impressed....very little field music and too crowded to see anything that you had paid for. I think I prefare Cropready these days more civalised and you can actually see. But loved wandering around the bars in the city centre.
Hi Ani!
Another uke player....yeah! Are you planning on building your own cigarbox uke?
Did you know there is going to be a Ukulele Festival of Great Britain in Cheltenham
on June the 19th and 20th? I'll be performing there. Would be nifty to meet up! It's sponsored by www.ukeglos.co.uk
Take care,
Shelley.
Hello,
I have started a CBN group entitled, "How to Play CBG" It is my hope and intention to encourage the "Wealth of Talent" here on the Nation to share their knowledge and skill to further the CBG movement. Please consider contributing an instructional "video" link to this group. If you are a viewer seeking instruction, please feel free to write. If you have any suggestions or know other players who you think may want to post instructional "video" links, please contact me. Thank you for your interest and support, Keni Lee
Hi there,
Thanks for the reply. A Kona. It knocks my off road cycles into a cocked hat. I've got a Giant converted to a single speed and a single speed cyclocross machine. In these parts there is only drovers trails and roman roads. Some steep hills but no mountains.
Just got back from London on another musical exploit. You might've heard of the ukulele prom, our orchestra was there. Speak again I hope.
Epworth isn't that far away from me. I have cycled through it a few times. Not much there though.
Hi there Ani,
I just had to write. Soundssogood tells me that you are a fixed wheel cyclist. I've been riding fixed for more years than I care to think about. Just wondered if you were in fact a "fixie" and how you get on with it in the hilly part of the country. I'm in the flatlands of Lincolnshire, so it's easy around here.
I have only taken phone camera pics of the build, did not want to take my good camera near all the dust.
What is a ratty build? How are you making your cases? Glad that you are getting commision builds, let me see it when it's done.
Ani xx
