I had an old maiden Aunt that did a lifetime worth of genealogical research and traces my branch of the family back 13 generations in America. (gotta be a couple other cigar box guitar players in there along the way, I'm thinkin')

Funny thing you should say that, I have been a machinist for 25 yrs
and they said I was a "natural" because of the name.
Getting back to the necks---this southern yellow pine is harder than
any of the hardwoods I have been using, just ask my bandsaw blade.
I have no doubt about the strength with 5 pieces glued together vertically.
