Thanks Wes. For the past few days I've been going from the very beginning of the construction forum and reading the posts that are interesting. I've got a good amount of woodworking experience - I make cameras so finer details shouldn't be too tough. I downloaded a few of the pdfs and checked them out, some pretty good stuff. I'm hoping to have my first CB instrument finished in a few weeks. I got school, work, a kid, and a couple other side projects to work on so I can usually only dump a few hours here and there into this sort of thing, but it does feel good to get back to making things. Thanks for the welcome.
Thanks Wes, your a gentleman and a scholar, thank you very much I will download it as soon as I get these two exams out of the way. Thanks again Wes takecare talk to ya soon bro.
Hi Wes, thanks for the invite I had a blast, sorry I lacked the skill too really play anything. Oh thanks for the glass slide and cigarbox. And if your not to busy you can help me with that information. I really liked your mac box it was very well built, and sounded great. Thanks for the good time and great hospitality.
Thanks for welcoming me Wes. This website is right up my alley with all of its information on instrument building. I Currently have almost 3 years of luthier experience building acoustic and electric guitar and continue to build every day. I've been experimenting with folk instruments and have successfully built a lute, a appalachian mountain dulcimer, and a can-jo. My next adventure a tin ukulele led me to this website and Its been amazing. I see some Cigar Box guitars coming to the soon future!
Thanks for the welcome, Wes. Seems like your the welcome wagon around here! I've been lurking for a long time so I've got most of the basics down.... I'm just not used to the social networking aspects!
Thanks again,
Chester
I have been poking around the site for several days now and feel like I've hardly scratched the surface! I'm on overload.
I'm trying to resist the urge to just start building... I have some tuners left from an electric guitar upgrade and have guitar strings. I'm trying to size up a reasonable first try: I'm fighting the urge to make it too complicated or fancy. I'm sure that people learn the most by just doing it. I'm checking local sources for possible materials plus my junk box stuff. If I get the right stick and box in my hands, I will probably be unable to fight the urge!
My background is in electronics. Over the years I have been attracted to numerous technical hobbies. My strengths are probably more as a builder than a player. Past projects have included building an electronic organ and an analog synthesizer.
Thanks Wes, and Hello to all, cant remember if i left a welcom comment befor or not, busy time of year for me, any how I have build my first CBG, turned out fine and fun to play , easy build, gave it to my GF, she is learning to play!getting ready to do a few more, Iam a gunsmith, blacksmith, hornsmith, and have build a few strats many moons ago! this was right down my alley ! if anyone needs anything give me a holler !
Hey , yeah that would be awesome, to hang out with one of the coolest dudes on here. Just let me know when and we can maybe do a little pickin' and maybe you can give me some help on reading tabs to help me play something.
Thanks Wes. I'm really enjoying the site, there is such a lot of information and enthusiasm here. I am nearing the end of a stick dulcimer build using a CB and hopefully will be starting a one string broom stick diddley next. I am housebound and have returned to music to while away the time. Its a real boost to make something with such an enjoyment factor. Regards and thanks for the welcome. Steve
Recorded with a MXL 990 Microphone that I bought used off ebay for 40 bucks. Music - from the webpage https://www.reddogguitars.com There is CBGs for sale...
