Hi Gary,

Graduating from making diddley bows to CBGs. Quick question: the instructions on the silicon sealant I bought to encase a piezo pickup, as advised by many makers of CBGs, say, "sealant releases acetic acid on curing so do not use on acid-sensitive materials such as copper, brass. lead or steel." Have you ever heard of this being a problem?

Hi Gary, I'm not entirely au fait with using the internet on websites like Cigar Box Nation.  I just click on things and hope it works out. My wife has tried to explain the notion of friends online and I think I just about got it, but not sure if I'm typing this in the right box. Anyway, I really appreciated your comments on the riverbow and hope to be able to ask you a few questions on CBG construction. Loved the photographs on your page of everyone sitting around playing CBGs.

Hi there Gary, and yes, thats why i made the box,the copper ,and the croom can have a drop, but the Lynas ones are not that forgiving, and if i like it or not they tend to fall more then i want ,thats why!,The Vintage Tin was a old Fish takkle box from my past a way father(long time Ago) he made holes in the bottom and four on the side, that gave me the decision  to   use it, to turn it in to a beautyfull git, that maybee lives on for a other hondred years more! and thanks for the kind comments Greeetssszzz A.D.

Hi Gary, i tried the email address you gave me but it said "invalid email address" and wouldn't accept it to send. So here's that message: Hi Gary, i replied to your request on CBN but thought i'd say hello with an email also. The shortest slide i have at present is 1 1/2 inches x 3/4 ID. It's solid intense red. It's a little organic shaped with a roll of thicker glaze at the bottom and rounded at the top. Very comfortable and smooth glazed. I have several at 1 7/8 that are very even and smooth glazed with ID of 3/4. When i make them i throw against my finger inside the cylider. The result is the 3/4 bore. I can make them bigger, but smaller is a trick. Most of my slides are tapered a little inside so they get snug on the end. I can send you two slides as soon as you let me know if the longer length is not a problem. When i make slides next i'll make some shorter ones that meet your specs. ..... Thanks, Dave

Hey Gary, thanks for the interest in my slides. I only have one slide that is short enough for your specs. Most of mine are 1 3/4 at shortest. Many 2 inches or 1 7/8. Many are the right size ID. The shortest pinkie is not a traditional shape. It bulges near the end as the glaze was thick and drooped a little. It works well however especially for noting individual strings. If you can stand the longer 1 3/4 to 2 inch sizes you have oodles to choose from or i'll pick one that is very smooth and even in shape for you. Let me know. .... Dave
