Hey Sam,
Is that your bass that's recorded on here? You mentioned that if I sent you some money you'd send me some weed whacker string. Have you done that for anyone else? I don't know how much to include for shipping. Please let me know!

Sam,

Thanks the detailed response; I'll have to take a closer look. I checked out the song too which was helpful. Note: you have improved since the last song of yours I have listened too. I've been curious as to how 3-stringers are tuned. I'm using standard instrument tunings (GDAD Irish Bouzouki, DGBE Tenor Guitar, DAD Dulcimer) so far, but I am considering trying some others. The guys on the worship team don't like my 4-string GDAD cigar box bouzouki because it doesn't sound like a guitar (too tinny and thin) and it doesn't sound full enough without another guitar playing which is often the case. So I am trying to figure out a tuning/string combination that will give me a richer fuller sound (not necessarily guitarlike) that will work well just accompanied by a bass guitar and drums. Thanks again for the help.

Sam,

Reference your personal three string fretted cigar box guitar. I noted that in the pictures the strings seemed quite thick. I'm curious as to the scale length, tuning, and string weights. Are you playing it slide or rhythm? Although I love seeing pictures of everyone's instruments, building details are also very useful. Thanks.

Sam,
Thanks for your comment on my vid. Yeah the 'One Man Band' thing is a challenge for me, too. I never really thought I could have the knack for it, but with the right rig it ain't half as bad as you think. You should give it a try, it's really quite satisfying and eliminates the need to have to deal with pesky 'drummer' types. he-he

Hey Sam,
I was just admiring your short scale bass. I've been thinking of building something similar bassed a bit on the Ashbory rubber string bass. What are you using for strings? Any tips welcome.... Thanks

Howdy Sam! Do you have any of those Indian boxes left? I'd like to buy one for a special guitar I've got in mind. Let me know.
