definitely mate, if you see any good gigs on and around the area then we will have to sort out another excursion for the south yorkshire massive. I'll keep my eye out too.

Yes, you can use 5432 for a GDgb tuning or 4321 for a Dgbd tuning. Have you seen my instructional video CDs:
http://shop.ebay.com/njmikeb/m.html?_nkw=&_armrs=1&_from=&_ipg=&_trksid=p3686
I use these tuning too. CD 4 (3 string tuned GDg) and CD 5 (4 string tuned Dgbd) Your 4 string will be the same as my 3 string except you have that additional high string to work with. Hope you don't mind the information. Thank you for your consideration. Enjoy.

Yep - keep loking and you will find them cheaper even if they need a bit of repair work. Also try local tobaconists - ours asks for a small donation to the Helicopter Rescue Fund but one in Paignton gave me three or 4 for nothing. Often they are small but fine for diddley's.

btw I buy wood that is 35mm - 40mm wide and about 30mm thick - the narrower ones make a really comfortable 3 string and you need 30mm to fit the pegs if you don't angle the headstock - alternatively I laminate a bit of ply or veneer on the back of the headstock to give it more bulk. I don't have good enough tools to cut wide pieces lengthways but obviously if you have a bench saw of some kind you can just buy planks!

Hi there, thanks for your comment. As to timber I did a short video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RwMwGnGXacA I just buy off cuts and he charges me about £1 per 6 foot length so that's 2 necks worth. Some is a bit crap so I have to watch for knots so there can be wastage. He will plane it to size but that is a lot extra. Last trip I got some walnut flooring offcuts for the same price which are beautifully smooth.

As to boxes my max is £2 but for most I pay about 20p to 50p so it has to be really special to pay over £1. Aside from the car boots a lady who runs a market stall looks out for them for me and she sometimes gets lovely old boxes and has got me some real antiques for about 50p - £1. Hope that helps and thanks for watching
