No, it's not a cone, it's a flat sheet. I'm pretty sure that the buzz is a wire touching the edge of the sheet. One of these days I'll take it apart and fix it but between work and building new guitars it's on the back burner for now.
Thanks Andries! The carbon fiber worked pretty well but there is a buzz that I need to find and fix. Can't hear it if I turn the amp up loud but it'll drive me crazy acoustically. I have a piece of carbon fiber left that I'm going to experiment with on the next build so stay tuned. : )
I don't even mind the lack of rain, but Its been mid 90s for several weeks even high 90s ,which is pretty hot for here .We get plenty of rain in the winter ,but we have had about five years of very hot record setting temps and multiple 90 day stretches without rain. Some say climate change ,global warming.Weather is always cyclical,so I try not to freak out,but I'm not a big fan since I mow lawns for a living....hahahahaha
Thanks Andres. I’m a long ways out on finish but it’s unfolding. I have to let it rest for a day while other projects and garden calls. Firing coming up in a week and no slides painted. Yikes, lots of pots to paint and glaze. Is Holland still bone dry? My garden needs a good soaker here.
Thanks A.D! On One Soul c#merle did everything, the video, singing, drum beat, and add on organ effects, to my solo Big Payback guitar track. I had the easy one this time ha! Thanks!
Thanks, I hear you! I actually looked around for the Lace Matchbox to check prices! C. B. Gritty is out of supply, Amazon same. Still can buy direct from Lace! Ebay UK I believe had one, you might check out. Agreed, Greece ??? I’m thinking about putting one on Uncle’s Partagas, make it a West Coast Electra jammer ha! Thanks A.D! I noticed during my web surfing, more like web fumbling, your right, age catches you if you don’t catch it, one builder here bought a bunch of the Lace pickups, making deluxe CBGs with em!
Hi Andries. Ya, who knows. But it looks good either way. We use one as a wedge to keep our door closed at the garden. I always keep it up like a cup. :*)
The tube amp? No, I didn't build that. I found it while we were cleaning stuff out of a closet in my church. I got bold and asked, "Do we still need this? Can I have it?" It's OLD; I don't remember the brand/make. I'm certain the factory that built it (Chicago, IL) is long gone. I brought it to my guitar repair guy who has a guy who restores and repairs amps, speakers and other electronics. It SCREAMS!! I play it in church mostly, so I have to keep it turned WAY DOWN. Thanks, friend.
Thanks Andries, that heart shape design is called a "trailing heart". I first found this back in the 70s, I found a book on how to build an Appalachian mountain dulcimer, can't remember the title or the author. Having never built an instrument, I went ahead. Came out nice, my granddaughter now owns it. The author was a big fan of that trailing heart design, I also like it. Not necessarily my signature design, I like it and will use it again, but anybody else is welcome to it. I also use what I call a "drunken diamond" as seen on my first 3-string build, also on a friends. Thanks for the comment!
I got the aluminum cone and it's deformed now, it's just too thin for the steel strings so I'm going to get rid of it and replace it with a 1mm sheet of carbon fiber. I'll let you know how the experiment turns out.
But it's made for ukulele and this evening I discovered that the cone is collapsing under the tension of the strings (about 60lbs). Oh well, the cover still looks cool and I'll come up with something sturdier for a resonator.
Thanks Dave Great stuff its one of the weirdes i have seen in a long while! but i believe its a distinktiv player for a spesiffic tune or play, i do not see it as a solo instrument.
Hi Andries. Here’s my little one string. It’s about 18 inches tall. Mine is bamboo. The pot is the trunk of bamboo hollowed out. The neck if bambo like a fishing pole cut into strips with the head left whole. Nylon string. Hide banjo head with a button to hold the string. You squeeze the bambo neck to change the notes. You can pluck it with fingers or strike the string with a stick. Sounds great much like the guitwang. A tin can, yardstick neck. One string from can bottom to yardstick top. Squeeze to change notes.

You are welcome Andries. It was fun to twang with the birds at the garden.
