LOL......I have never had the dough ray me to buy a proper stand for the reso,..no one see me standing up, it would be great fun to be able to do so! I'm so excited cannot contain myself:-) Barry--I did see your amazing webpage and craftsmanship some time back.....just amazing, and a mind behind it...the artists had is easy to see, with th eye...did you get to see robert Randolf and the family band play austin city limits? some time ago, it was the MOST amazing show-----crowd went crazy...gotta run..will write.
Laurie:-)
PS...........forgot to say, THANKYOU, for sharing my music,...that is my joy, just knowing it goes out and get heard.....thanks to the internet which allows me to go forth visually and audibly, when I cannot do so, due to circumstances.......:-)I was listened to in Ireland on St Paddys day,...that's pretty dare cool....and Lori Wimberley shared me bigtime with many of her family, bless her heart...she's a sweetie. If you'd provide a mail addy, I'd love to send my humble CD along...X2,--one for you, one to gift....ok?
Laurie
Barry, I'm left speechless,....I have longed for , for some time now and electric 6 string lap, or stand up slide guitar (box or plank, legs or no), I love my 3 and 4 string, but 6 would compare more to my National reso, and the songs I love to play on it, could be carried out just the same, the National, is of course, acoustic...your offer is generous in the extreme, as was Railroad Don's who found me playing on youtube, became a fan of my ditties and wanted to make me one--my gift was his seventh build and he is now making and has his guitars parked in a music store local to him. My promise to him, never ever will I part with it:-) (why would I want to?). In my game of survival, little things have been shed,..to keep myself and kids and folks all rolling along. The 25$ Uke sort of took the place of the deering banjo that I had to say goodbye to... I had in mind to build one, and got as far as finding a big art box and buying neck wood.was going to put legs on it like an old fashioned electric steel, to either stand or sit behind it (I never know if things will work they way my mind lays them out) even cut out Marilyn Monroe pics to decoupage the box, as it is plain..and really customise it.....life shifted and my Mom became my focus, a number of months running. And so, again--I must repeat, (almost)speechless......it is a generous and wonderful offer. I'd say yes, only if you take your time, and would let me know if you could use the parts I found, in any way..this day no less tough than yesterday and days prior, and so your kindness lands here and provides a brite spot, truly. I'd also happily endorse, demo, mention, link, etc to your handiwork. Someday a CD is in the works, if my life allows the time,....my recording engineer got really jazzed about the cig box.and wants to do some swamp music together, adding small vintage sound effects.....6 strings would be awesome.
:-) Laurie
thankyou, kindly Barry...it is funny how we think in the abstract about the end of life....or not at all concerning the inevitible, LOL....just loving as much as you can, in the time you are alloted, is the ideal...:-) I give tons of praise to caregivers, it takes a special heart, and compassion . God Bless your Mom, mine born in 24. She had a rich , interesting, humble life.I'll let you know if a vid/tribute is baked, it might take awhile, my Bro and I likely will collaborate........
Thankyou So much Barry---my life is a challenge some time now,...music really is such a wonderful part of it, the challenges are softened somehow. Father Time made visitation here yesterday as I saw my Mom out lifes door and it was a little like "put the brakes on, I would like to wait" There is purpose and order in most all things, even if we can't see, don't understand, or fail to embrace,....thankfully I saw, understood and embraced. And music a part of her passing, to the minute/second. My Mom was responsible for planting crucial seeds, hauling me long distances faithfully for piano lessons I cared not for, as a kid..it planted a seed, the lessons went by the wayside, but not the player, me...I still sit and enjoy the piano. playing by ear. She played keyboards and there was always music in the house! much like me she loved many genre,...mastering both Brubecks "Take Five"' as well as the Bumble Boogie. She was a class act, and I am just thankful, bottom line, that she was MY mom. I do appreciate your kind words...I'd better dust off the cig box soon, the bari uke won me over this past month or so...it was quiet and fitting , for the times.
Blessings:-) Laurie
Barry, thanks for the kind words, the neck is from Tasmanian Oak. I think it is a local hardwood. Not sure if there is a North American equivalent. Had a quick look at your work, very nice.
Thanks So much Barry...very kind words:-)......now and then I re-visit my own songs....think I should re-do "got my blues cap on" and get a better vocal capture,..I never record a song
please be sure an visit me on youtube..I get away with writing as much music as possible,...tis self therapy! My mom and dad needing more care lately finds my hopes to build a guitar sort of put on hold....:-).....that and mowing and tax time,.....ah spring.......1LOL. Laurie
