Dan, I got your message but I am not sure how to help. All the Brits I knew on Bastion would be home by now. They usually only serve 3 month tours over there. The Americans I knew are all home as well. I would try asking the marine you are comunicating with to go over to Bastion himself, there is an american office in the hospital. The marine could go talk to the Senior enlisted there and see if he or she knows anyone on the current Brit side that can help. Leatherneck was only about a 10 minute walk from Bastion and it was all behind the wire. Hope this helps. God bless you for all you do for the servicemen.
I just built a 4-stringer for my daughter with that rocky patel box and it sounds great!!! but if you don't have the bridge at least 2 inches from the end of the box you will be very disappointed with the sound. the bridge needs to sit on the lid---that is the soundboard!!!! look at a regular acoustic guitar bridge placement
Thanks for checking out my song Dan, I just joined so Im a bit late for the Christmas CD. Im sorry I missed the opportunity. I do a have a couple more ill post. I try to record every guitar I build.

Hey Dan, Here's my submission attempt for the 2001 Christmas album.
thanks Dan, I'll check them out and see if they have any nice hardwoods in my area. What kinda tools should I use? I've only got a dremel and a drill is that all i need or would i need a hand lathe or anything else? I'm wanting to be properly prepared to start full production.
Unfortunatly I went to the link you gave me and it has everything else but how to build a cigar box guitar 101.
I'm on my third build. Have completed the box and the neck. Ready to attach and string. Not sure how the thread the strings to the machine heads or as I call them "tuning pegs."
I did look at the first offering of plans at the cigar box nation site...........
It was the info that came with the big blue box. In fact it was the only offering, It was not detailed enough.
Aside from that.......I went to the festival in York Pa. It was great and had a wealth of what ever one could ask. I met Shane Speal and Keni Lee we were all so busy it was hard to get into details. Fun time- awesome guitars- and music
Now I'll just look at your site. You seem to me the best.
I will be at York on Friday afternoon. Staying at the Yorktown Hotel. Would like very much to meet you. Will you be at either of the pubs on Friday night? Let's make sure to get together.
That's a shame about Ron's page. He had some beautiful and creative builds. And he was a very nice guy too. It's too bad that some folks can't be pleased.
It measures only 2 3/8" thick. The mandolin size cone with only 3 strings (standard ADG, tuned GDG) really packs a punch. Much better than using a uke cone. Enjoy.

Thanks Dan. I have no musical training but looking at some of the videos and a lot of practice I hope I can get the hang of this.
