I am a bit obsessed with getting great tone from piezos for archtop guitars without preamps. I followed Ted Crocker's diagram for 1 meg pots in volume and tone circuit and it definitely gives more volume. The tone caps I used were .022 instead of .0022 and it works to make the sound more clear but doesn't really cut treble, which is desirable in some instances.
Thanks for the invite..i live in central bc ..in canada and was wondering if you have a supplier in canada..the freight and money exchange and duty make my cost almost double what is advertised on this site..thanks for any reply
Can't wait to get started on my first attempt at a cigar box guitar. I've finally managed to find one in a Whisky and cigar shop in Knutsford, I'm just gathering together everything else I need then it's all systems go .
Hi Brian, thanks for the welcome. Looking forward to reading and learning about Cigar Box guitars. And of course finally building and playing one. Cheers
I play small guitars, GS mini and 3/4 little Martin. When I'm ready to go, a short scale 4 string is what I want to do. For lack of much power tools,I'm going with a cb gitty neck and fretted fret board, 23 inch scale. I wonder what the affect of the short scale will have on the tone. Ukeish? I've got a nice Maduro box I'll use. The top is thick wood and the bottom is thin wood. I'm thinking I should build it with the box upside down to use the bottom for the sound board, for better vibrations. Also, I wonder about sound holes on the sides of the box like some guitars to leave the top-sound board intact( vibrations-tone).
