howdy hal--just stopped by to say i,m not exactly sure of the tuning on the vintage sweeper cause i tuned it by ear its in the style of G D G but might not be exactly that it could be higher or lower in tuning. just got new strings in sets of bulk -dozen at a time--and the guage i got this time is 42--32--22 in phospher bronze. when ya buy them in bulk you can get them cheap.

By the way, I thought it was interesting that the other guys were surprised at how talented you are.  They REALLY don't know you, do they!  If they had any idea of what you can do they would be astonished.  I think you and I are similar in that we think anything we can do or anything we know is just common stuff.  I'm learning that it is not.

Mom and I got into reading a series of books by Jane Auell about the saga of the Clan of the Cave Bear. We would wait expectantly for the next one in the series, read it, and have fun talking about the life of the cavewoman who is the main character.  Well, after not publishing a new one in a couple of years one just came out and believe it or not it took me a month before I got it ... not being able to share it with her was an emotional trip.  We had the same thing with another series of books called The No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency.  I haven't been able to read any more of those, either.  I think that you carrying on the tradition of wood working and giving your efforts as gifts is fantastic!  Remember all the card boxes Dad made and gave away?  I love the jewelry box he gave me.  I don't know if he ever made jewelry boxes for Stacey, Marcia, Gregg and Colleen.  I'll try to ask Colleen and let you know.

Sometimes I use that for the computer.  Lets me know where I'm getting spam from if I get it.  Now I have major grooves in my fingers from trying to learn the Middle Eastern and Blues riffs.  I'm going to try and get to Best Buys tomorrow for a small amp just so I can blast my neighborhood.  I read what you posted about how you got started on these and how it was to work with Dad's tools.  That was also very nice praise: calling him a master amateur woodworker.  That's special praise since you yourself are so talented.  Anyway, it was touching.  Did you ever finish the one for your boss and how does he like it?
