I finally got around to cutting up that cheap student guitar and sticking it onto that black cheesecake pan I've been planning to use for the past year.  I need to go back and find a thicker piece of wood to mount inside the pan, though.

I also need to cut off the top two tuner holes and redo the nut for 4 strings.  If this works out well, I may try keeping an eye out for more broken guitars (with good fretboards/necks). =)

I fully understand James, thanks for responding.

Here are a couple of ideas that may help give you some break angle for the strings at the bridge. Just to so some seeds and give you a lightbulb moment.

Taffy, sorry for taking so long to reply (manic/depression doesn't exactly have a schedule you can set your clock by).  The bridge is gonna' have to be down near the bottom of the pan (like... very near the bottom). =)   I haven't found what I want to use for a tailpiece yet, and I'm still flip/flopping on how I want to do the bridge, but I did get the top two peg holes cut off so that it's just the lower 4 (with new machine pegs in them).  So much nicer than the black plastic ones I removed from it.  I also haven't decided whether or not to add a piezo pickup.  I'll probably save that for a second attempt later just to see how it sounds. =)

Hi James, here's a look at old neck heaven, I've got enough there to keep me in six stringers for a while. With some, in the past ,I have removed the frets and sawn down each side of the truss rod to make  3-4 string necks.

Your photo may lie, but does that scale length put the bridge right on, or off, the back edge of the body? Probably doesn't, might just the photo angle.

meh .. just string a piece of jute through the top 2 holes  and use it as  the hanger. ;-)
