 If you are using the highest sounding  four strings of a guitar  ( D G B E)  then a lot of different tabs. for a six stringer will work, to some degree.    Lacking the two lower strings you will have to omit or substitute some notes.  Pick the songs accordingly.   The same thing applies with open tunings you can achieve with D,G,B,E  strings.   If you are tuned ( D G B E) it may be worth mentioning that the baritone Ukulele is also tuned (D G B E) ,but in a higher register, so tabs for it would work.      In conclusion:  There are more 3 string tabs because the need is greater.                                   P.S.  I do not read tabs. well, or own a four stringer because the soulless little things scare me.

There's a prejudice with four stringers.  Been told they have no souls but I don't believe it.
