Hey, Marian -- So you're a banjo player I take it! You asked if I make my own necks; answer: Yes, that's the fun part! I used to think it'd be hard to shape a neck, but it ain't. A luthier friend of mine gave me an old farrier's rasp -- basically a big hairy file with two sides, one rough, one smooth. Perfect tool for the job. Say... I just discovered Mary Z. Cox, a Florida old-time banjo player. Know her? Check her out if you don't!
