That should work pretty well. The ones I've done like that worked out ok but too much head tension will cause the sides of the box to  bow inward. I like to get good tension on the head but here I had to compromise a bit. Looking forward to a CB fiddle/banjo duet!

  What's Jeff planning to use for a pot/body? This is a cigar box with half a bongo drum inserted. It'd be cool to have matching fiddle and banjo if you have any other boxes like your fiddle.

Yeah Marcy, I played in  rock bands for a long time before moving to WV but when I heard some local guys playing old time music I felt like that was what I was meant to play. I still get together with some classic rock guys and plug in an electric guitar but this old music that's fairly new to me is where my heart is. My wife and I are talking about some hiking in Smoky Mtn National Park - maybe in the fall - not sure how close that is to you guys but I always bring instruments when we're camping. We may be able to play some tunes sometime soon I hope!.
