I play a bit myself (I am a tuba player so the technique is similar except for the circular breathing which I am getting better at). I am at the moment working with some friends in Gawler Town Band on an upcoming gig. As a suggestion you could try Smokemart and the like for boxes. I get some from there and pay about $5 each or thereabouts. Depends on the store. I do a lot with biscuit tins too.

Well good building and hope to catch up some more.
