The markings on the bottom of paper-covered boxes

For those of you who use the wooden bottoms of the paper-covered boxes as soundboards, what do you do with/about any markings on the bottom? For example, on the Arturo Fuente boxes, there's a "burnt" scroll shape with full brand name and serial number. Could I sand it off without damaging the bottom? I really have no idea how thick the layers are in the plywood on those. How did you learn about Cigar Box Nation?: Bing Search

How many instruments have you built so far?: None so far.

What do you find most interesting about cigar box guitars? (If you do not enter something meaningful here, your membership may be rejected).: I have an interest in woodworking and a desire to make inexpensive instruments for lower income families. CBG's look relatively easy to put together, easily customized, and cheap to get the parts. Plus, I just love folk instruments, and have an interest in clowning and thought something like this would go well with a hobo clown character.

I pulled about 12 feet out of the trash at a company that builds cabinets. What I like about using the Corian is that I can file it after installing it and fine tune my action.
