Go for it Jerry. Looks like you could just cut out the diamond shape under the grill part of the f hole cover. I've been using a small drill bit in my chord less. I drill many holes almost touching each other in the area to be removed. Then a small chisel to clean it out. I don't have a scroll saw and I don't like a coping saw. The drill works great. I clean up the edges with my Dremmel drum sander.

oh the jury's out on the F holes.,.,i may trace them and carve them out.,.,that would be a first for me.,.,
