Does anyone out there have any idea of what type Timber this is ??.
It's from my trusty recycled Piano, which was made in England in the 1950's, I'm thinking Oak ?? of some sort or possibly Maple ??

Brilliant decision on your part to use beechwood, AGP!   Well done!  ;-)

Yep! Jerry Jordan, Beech it is, and in my opinion any "Free Wood" is useful ;-)

I'm with you David Bowes, I happy to refer to it as Beech.

Just had a quick sniff  Moritz Voegeli, and it smells like Wood :-)

I would say Beech.

Just for control as we are only guessing on base of photos - I would like to know how it smells...

"Thanks Moritz Voegeli", the crosscut pic certainly looks like what I'm using, just about to post a new pic of what I have, for some reason I'm unable to post it here ???
