it's far better to do small cuts at a time with the router , takes longer but far better results
if you try to take out too much wood at once you firstly slow the router cutter down which creates excessive heat ,burns the wood , puts strain on the router cutter and router also though you cant see it the router cutter starts to vibrate and ends up making your neck pocket bigger than it should be , not the desired effect at all
