I'm using this 3-stringer as a lab rat to test different setups. This junction strip that I had allows changes without soldering. The green and yellow wires are jumpers that can be moved around without disturbing other things. After you stare into this cluster..... for a while it becomes pretty simple.

That pot comes from something I picked over. I got about a half dozen or more from various radios and things. It has a switch on it also.

I can tell you were staring at that junction strip, after a while you can see where all the wires are going and that the piezo's are connected in series instead of parallel. I found it about the same. All this makes it easy to try out new parts but the problem is you sit there and play it and forget what changes you made. No worries it's all good.
