While cutting out the neck pocket, I had what seemed like a catastrophic wood tear-out (A). Unfixable? 6 months ago, i would have junked the box and started over. But today, I immediately set off on a plan of attack: first, glue the torn piece back into the box with level-3 Titebond wood glue (B) and clamp it up (C). Tonight, while the Titebond is fixing, I'll fill in the cracks with wood filler and sand it down tomorrow. The box top will probably need a need coat of white paint, but hey, I've already planned and worked on the box-guts too much to just give up.

haha, thanks a bunch, Sean, your comments mean a lot, considering how much i admire your work! this particular neck pocket was cut using the drilled-holes method you mentioned, plus coping saw, to get a rough pocket. the furthest edge of the pocket couldnt be cut with the coping saw, so I was going to use my dremel with a cut off wheel and a chisel set the break it free, but the force put on the pocket tore out as you see above. The build coming along nicely, though if you look closely my paint job isnt so great. Oh well!

You have learned well young Scottywalker. What are you using to cut out the neck pocket with? I found a dremel with a downward spiral cutting bit to be the best also I drill two holes in the end area one on each side to give a start and stop point for the cuts help to avoid such issues. That aside you are doing great the white box with gold hardware is just stunning. Keep going it looks killer.
