This is the box I got to go with the scalloped electric bass neck. It's 18"x12"x8.5" and I'm planing on making it an upright. Unfortunately I won't be home for another 10 days so I can't see the 2 pieces together and really start figuring out how to build it.

OHHH that's a thexah box .. !!!
maybe consider chopping it up and refitting / arranging pieces to be seen from the front. ? just another option.
