Terraplane guitar made with heavy duty hubcap, discarded walnut drawer and door skin for the box, and a pickup I'm designing based in the old gold foil pickups.
I think Robert would be proud!

Wade, did you fab that pickup? If so please give some details on what you used for the cover, etc. I love the old gold foils, and have rewound a few dead ones, but I'd love to be able to make my own. This build is inspiring. I have a VW hubcap Ive been brainstorming with.

This is like a masterpiece, but it comes with strings attached.  (a, no pun intended this time)  You don't have to video them, but you really should learn Terraplane Blues and Bring me My Shotgun.

Thanks for the kind words everybody. This guitar idea has been going around in my head for almost a year now. It's feels good to finally get it out of my head and into my hands! The curved bridge on that hubcap was a real bear to work with. Gotta get some videos out soon.

I saw this and said, "Oh...  shit!   Breathtaking.    Art.  Playable art.  You nailed it (pun intended).  I love the history of this and what you did.

I can not do that nice of work, but you make me wish for a Terraplane hubcap to try.
