I decided to have a go at making a single cut slide from a carefully selected wine bottle I found in a dustbin outside a pub. I made the cut with a diamond cutting wheel using my Dremel and cleaned it up with diamond coated files, which I also used to add the inner and outer profiles and clean up the seam and few minor blemishes in the glass prior to polishing.

Thanks Dave, and yes.....work through the wet and dry grades (used wet) after I've filed the rounded edges to shape with my diamond files, a finer bevel on the inside and more rounded on the outer edge. Bones's slides rock Dave.....no nonsense hardcore kit for the discerning hooligan....reckon I'm going to need one of those too....!!:-))

Nice Brian. Do you polish the rounded edge further to get it like smooth glass? I have two great Bare Bones slides in my collection. They work great! They are Bar Fighter slides with just a little rounding of edges. Then no one will mess with you while playing at the bar.

Cheers Jeff, and that's a great pic mate.....thanks for sharing it. Looks like you got it down to a fine art there, really impressive and some very cool looking slides ready for finishing off. Good point on the glass dust by the way.....I used a proper mask and did it outdoors, but you do need to take care. I experimented initially with a glass cutter and the hot/cold water trick to get it to fracture, but never managed to get a perfect clean break so went with the diamond cutting disc, ideal for a 'one off'.

The 2 look good mate nice work on the finishing off the edges , I use a saws all blade in a banjo hacksaw frame , 5 or 6 good clean cuts and the bottle fractures around the neck is not a clean cut but I’m not about neat n tidy , it also keeps the glass dust down to a minimum then I use wet n dry paper under the tap till there is no sharp edges , did some yesterday ready to clean up later today , also do Hobo shot glasses the same way , hope you don’t mind the pic .
