Thanks Andy , yes mate give it a try , i was thinking of getting a slightly wider blade for doing this so i won't have to spend so much time thinning the veneers to fit , be nice and quick if the veneers just slotted in !
thanks for your input

very cool Juju! - I'm currently building a fretless bass with similar style inlaid wood fret markers - mine is cherry "frets" on an oak fretboard - hopefully I'll have it done soon and post pics

oooh that is sweet! Got to try that out on my next fretless. I think I have some bass wood thin enough.

Hi paul , thanks for your comments there much appriciated , well it's a bit of messing around to do them but i think the end result looks kinda cool , the method is to cut a fret slot as you would if you were fitting a fret , then get some hornbeam Veneer 0.6mm thickness and thin it down with a scraper (plane iron / Blade) to 023" sorry i dont know the conversion between metric and imperial ! but a gestimate would be 0.3mm ish ! - then apply glue to the fret slot and insert the veneer , sand flush to the fretboard once dry
hope this clears it up for you
Cheers bro

Just how in the heck do you slice wood that thin?! Awfully nice.
