A foot made of cheap pine worked well for a single instrument, but I am planning on putting a layer of scrap plastic cutting board material on the pressing surface. The pine is easily dented by the fret wire, which works well for not denting the fretboard, but the indentations in the foot requires carefully pressing a few times on each fret.
