This could stand some adjustable string end points. And some adjustable things to keep the box in position.

I have seen the post on this, good idea to make your own and see whats up. My first test used a cardboard mailing box because I hadn't gotten any cigar box's yet. I agree with the uncle, 1/4 to 1/3 from the tail seems to work every time. Too far to the middle and the string pressure suffers unless you do a string tru the body, then that effects the top etc... everthing effects everything. But with the test rig you can really know for sure.

Testing with a tuning fork gave me differing results.  This way is more true to the final configuration, though I'm not hearing as clear a difference with the tension on the bridge as I heard with the tuning fork and free floating top.

Cool.  It seems to me that the sweet spot is most often about 1/4  of the box length from the bottom.  Usually too close to the bottom end reduces vibration and resonance.

I got the idea from another post.  Search on "tester", and you'll find it, after going through all the "multi tester" hits.

Testing for tone via different bridge placements.  I guess volume too.  I defined some areas on that faceplate that cause a lot of vibration on the rest of the sound board if they are vibrated.  Hard to judge right now because any move of the bridge changes the tuning, and by the time I retune, I've forgetten what the previous tone sounded like.

Huh...  What do we have, a box tone and volume testor?   Interesting.
