First build for me.


Despite a few weeks of research, I still made a number of bone headed mistakes.....

1.Made the neck too thick after deciding on a seperate Fretboard as an afterthought.Consequently, it isn't really playable in a conventional way.

2.Bought the wrong type of hinges which caused a gap between the front and back of the body.I used checkers pieces to even this problem out.

3.I cut the hole for 1 of the Tuners too close to the nut, making it impossible to tighten.A screw 1 inch above solved that.

4.I used Poly on the Rosewood Fretboard.
Big mistake.......took 2 weeks to dry properly.In that time, airborne dust and particles seemed to be drawn to it.Next time, just lemon oil or something similar.

5.Some of the Frets near the body are clearly slightly crooked.


Anyhow, it sounds decent Acoustically in terms of volume (it's a big box), and springs to life Electrically with the Slide.
It will be more a showpiece on the wall, but I think I'll play it as a Slide Guitar on my lap for a bit of fun now and again.

Edit...I have also cut some slits into some nice hand carved Chess pieces, so that they fit over the tuners.Not displayed yet as they require some sanding and touch up paint.
