The wood I have  has been cut for over a year and has been planed for 8 months.  Now I am worried that if I build a guitar I won't realize that it was too early until the neck starts to bend.  What do you think?  Should I start building or ask a friend to keep it in her kiln room?  I don't want to wait 10 years!

I let my cherry set for a year before i plane it down and use it. Air dry is the really the best way, but if you have access to a kiln that would speed up the process. But you can only go slow with the heat, and best to stick a bucket of water near it, you don`t want it to crack from the dry heat. Like i said best way is to air dry it over time. Right after i stacked my cherry planks i painted the ends of them with hot wax. Another way to help stop boards cracking from the drying process.

Hey guys,

The wood has never gone through a kiln but I have a friend that is a potter.  Do you know of a way to speed up the process? (faster than 10 years)  Can you dry it out in a kiln?  How about just spending some time in a room with a kiln?  Any advice?
