There's the photo with the string tree made from two eye bolts and a "Chicago screw". Looks real clean.

Thanks Terrill.  I know now what they are.  I've seen them holding photo albums together.....just didn't know they had a different name.   Probably have some around in fact.  Good use for them....great idea.

Nice use for the handle mounting plate too.  I thought it looked familiar but just couldn't figure out what it was from.

JP - Where I work, Chicago screws (aka Post and Screw) are used for binding building plans.  They are quite useful, and being that I am surrounded by them, I use them for a lot of stuff.  You can buy them in bulk from binding supply companies - they come in a large variety of sizes (~1/4 wide and 1/4" to 3" wide).  Also, try asking places that do large format architectural printing in your area, most places would probably give you a few for the asking (they come in boxes of 100-500).  If all else fails, I would be happy to send you a few to experiment with for the price of a SASE (padded).  :)

 

The bridge is the mounting plate from a set of cheap handles I found in Home Depot next to the brass corners.  I can't for the life of me find a link on the website.  Next time I go back, I'll get the info for you.
