Wood is amazing stuff. The depth of beauty in good wood keeps me sucking sawdust.

I like it too Dave. And I still have two other gorgeous fretboard blanks waiting for a neck. One is pau ferro and the other one is Brazilian Rozewood (My lucky day; I ordered Indian and received Brazilian) :-)

I love Padauk. The sawdust and glue is nice too. I like your saw horse idea. Holding a dot while belt sanding would be tricky at best... Think I'll stick with whole dots. I like the big 10 mm dots.

The belt sander Dave... Why didn't I think about that? I did the first two with a file. Took me more than an hour. I did the rest with a saw. Drilled a shallow hole in a piece of scrap wood, fitted the dots in it and then used a saw to cut them in half... :)

btw, thanx! the wood is padauk. I love the colour; bright orange :)

I have to sand down my 10 mm dots to fit my 3/8s Fosner bit hole. It takes a long time to do one dot. I'd sand the half dots on my belt sander. Did you use a saw?

Clean work. Nice wood.

Cutting the dots in half wasn't as easy as I thought it would be :)
