For the second, i wanted a richer, louder sound, so tried a larger box (plywood sides, like the neck, and 1/4" plywood front and back. Neck has hardwood spine over the body length, and picking area is filed out by about 3/8". RESULT: initially I thought there wasn't much difference in tone, just a heavier instrument! But got a new set of D'Addario extra light strings and these ring out metallic and clear. Compared to #1, which by comparison sounds dull and less bassy.

Thanks, folks. The rounded top is actually more comfortable for playing than the sharp corner.

I'm using all 3 wound strings on this second CBG, which makes bending the notes more difficult but good sound. I should have had more than 16 frets, too.

Next step: adding a humbucker.

Very nice-love the opposed rounded corners and triangle sound holes...

Two good starts, for certain!  Good work, Sean!

Thanks Uncle John. I can't seem to control the orientation of my displayed photos, taken with an iPhone.

The 'lower' smaller bodied one is my first, and the shinier black and wood one is my second.

Both very nice.   I like the color pop on the lower one.
