This will be my first mag pup, Basslines, volume & tone controls. It was my husband's attempt, but we had a measuring issue, and the neck width was too narrow for him to use his Hipshot bridge! So I'm reworking it for me; it'll be a 3 string bass. Stripping back to the bolt for nut & bridge, but advancing the electronics.

Yeah, I think it'll be fine with the support.

I did use normal wood glue on Project 3, but am hoping for longer, road-worthy, durability.  Heat might be an issue, but out here in the high desert, humidity's not likely to be a problem!

And thanks!  It does seem, anecdotally, that my kiddoes do better in school in general than the ones not studying with me.

The husband did the headstock, his first try at that kind of work.  Pretty happy how it came out, and the one he's working on now for himself is shaping up well too.

Looking good.   Like the head stock a lot.  Yup, pups are cool, but there will always be a place for piezos.

Hi Lisa,

Even though hide glue is very traditionally used in guitar and violin making, it does have it's pros and cons. One of the cons is that it is heat and humidity sensitive. I personally use water resistant Titebond III ultimate wood glue. I agree with anonymous pick, it looks like you have the room to add support to the backside of neck before recessing the pickups. Glad to hear you reaching out to the children. You know music has been proven to raise math skills by an average of one grade level.

you  got lots  of  room  to   add     support  on the  back  /  sides   of  the neck   behind the    pickups     etc .

those look  like  p bass  pickups    ..  should  sound  funky  ;-)

I'm definitely interested to see how it turns out.  The only thing I'm a little bit worried about is the neck bracing for underneath where I'll need to rout out the space for the mags.  But my hide glue came in today I think, so I'll get a chance to try that out!

lookin  good   ..   i   doubt you  will  ever  go  back to piezos  after  mags   ;-)
