i've had a lot of luck with eye bolts.. if getting good tuners is a problem, i may be of some help. they take just a little skill to set up, but they hold a great tune, and you can use a screwdriver for greater leverage and much better control. i have a few tuners like yours in my "tuner bucket" from an old uke. i'm not sure i ever plan to use them... seems like i could never get any decent leverage to tune with nor enough strength to hold the tune on steel strings....

but my eye bolts, they're really working out well, and they're super easy to obtain and cheap.

Well they were given to me..NOT GEARED.. NO I don't like them because it's real hard or tough to turn them.. SO a geared tuner would be best. that's the downer of this build.. My first Build with bad tuners... But hey they work...

hey, those also look like cheapie uke tuners, if so, how do they work out for you? .. or are they the expensive orbital geared banjo tuners?

With the hing the strings set up real high.. 1/2 inch or so... I guess it's a slide!
