Just an addendum. Those staples (Home Depot's GSE-15410s) are really stout staples and must be stainless steel. They are tough to cut. What do you guys use to cut them? My wire cutters and personal strength fail me here. So, I decided on finishing…

Commercial Art vs Personal Validation and Affirmation... I have pondered in my old age of 44 why we do things, as a former magician for 30 plus years I am wondering why I did "Magic" I mean it's great fun, I was able to meet new people and was able…

Wow! that is friggin' awesome!!!! I love the concept and plan on giving it a whirl on a future build - I too am so over this fretting thing and how time consuming it is...... Congrats!

Not a problem. Like I said- it sounds like a good way to promote cbg's. Maybe that's your calling in the movement!

Great response, thanks again..

I spent time a year or so ago trying to introduce the cbg movement to the blues societies around the Ohio area. Most are interested in the instruments themselves but not so much the music that surrounds it. Most blues fests are rooted in well polish…

I've heard of bicycle spokes for frets. Maybe welding rod, too? I like the idea of glued-down ones until I am comfortable slotting in the right place & hammering fret wire. Filed flat on one side...I guess you can move them to check intonation if…

This weekend here in Rochester, NY there is a Ribs and Blues Fest... Got me thinking about CBN and how to better integrate into fest... It seems to me that either the bands here on the nation are 1-2 man bands, I can't watch that for more then 1 set…

Look at my Texas Electric Guitar... metal electrical box and a Hum out of an Epiphone SG, I wrapped the pickup in electric tape do to it touching the box... No problems....

Wade, you can get a simple wire bending jig and make them from coathanger or you can get different thiknesses of wire at hobby stores, or just use a small vise for bending them up. Sounds like agood down and dirty CBG type of fret to me.

I just found out that you need to make sure ALL THE FRETS ARE TAPPED ALL THE WAY DOWN.. as some of the frets on mine are not, placing the fret in front slightly higher then the one in back.

Okay, today I got some of these GSE-15410 staples from the Home Depot in Pleasanton, CA. They were in the Electrical Department (about half-way down Isle 5). In their fasteners section they also had a thinner staple that was 1.25" wide (an 8th of an…

Week 1

Ok after deciding that for some reason trying to play the 3 string cigar box would be easier the the harp, I took the leap. I purchased 2 boxes from the cigar shop at the mall for 2 bucks each and got a 4 foot peace of 1x2 oak FOR 4 BUCKS AT HD.... No I don't make stuff in a wood shop, no I don't play guitar, and no I don't know what I'm doing BUT I have to get sound out of something I make and I figure using a slide will make me sound like I know what I'm doing even if I don't...

So tonight I'… Continue

Thank you Hip Bone. Yes, it definitely make sense to me. I appreciate your personally sharing. I guess "performance" art by it's nature has to be geared toward other's appreciation. Especially magic (fool the audience). What you choose to present it up to you. I like everyone else ping - pong. A kind of hate - love relationship with my music. This is normal and healthy. You don't want to suppress emotions or get imprisoned by them. I think goals are important to keep us focused. When you lose sight of what is your ambition, it gets rather difficult to stay the course. I like what you said. I can relate. Art is definitely all about the "Big Picture". Like Life. Nothing is permanent. Constantly changing. How do you respond? Enjoy.

Hello,
I have started a CBN group entitled, "How to Play CBG" It is my hope and intention to encourage the "Wealth of Talent" here on the Nation to share their knowledge and skill to further the CBG movement. Please consider contributing an instructional "video" link to this group. If you are a viewer seeking instruction, please feel free to write. If you have any suggestions or know other players who you think may want to post instructional "video" links, please contact me. Thank you for your interest and support, Keni Lee
