The scale rulers where handy back in the day when I built  scale remote control Tug boats for a hobbie. I had clear ones. Yours are relics of the past, like a slide rule and drafting tables. Funny I still have my dividers, "T" square from drafting in my high school days.

thank you Sir. i was kinda joking around, but i bought them for the center finder. have never used the scales, just the 1:1. but i still have to say, if i want to find the center of a chunk of wood, i take a piece of paper, put a mark at the end of the whole piece, and fold it in half to the mark. always give's me a better center. but i have much respect for the folks that do it right.

These are scale rulers that are used in architecture, engineering, map making and such.

It's the first time I see flat ones as mine are all triangular.

But the center finder one is really handy. Lets say you have a 2 inch chunk of wood and you want to find the center. You measure the 2 inches with the bottom. Then you align the 2 inch marks from the top part on each edge of the piece of wood. The arrow will be dead center.
