My first build of 2017, a six-string natural finish CBG built from two vintage "Florida Factory Smokers" cedar cigar boxes (complete with stamp that the "Cigar Contained within were manufactured to retail at not more than 5 cents each")that I mated together and took a dremmel saw to cut down the glued sides to create a center rail to reinforce the back and neck. The neck is an old guldan adjustomatic made of poplar, and the top is curly maple tonewood I picked up from a ukulele builder off of eBay. I glued the top together from three pieces, then added a wooden rosette from the craft store to the sound hole to dress it up. After testing it out, I decided it needed a bit more volume on the bass side, so I added another hole to body on that side, which I dressed out with another craft store rosette. Got her currently tuned to an open E-minor chord (E-B-E-g-b-e) and she sounds great with a slide or just played my fingers. Going to added a piezo pick up and end pin jack soon. Finished with just five layers of Boston Butchers Wax.
