The wiring of all of the pickup signal wires is no too tough- just like a regular electric guitar with 3 pickups and a 5 way switch - but twice. Thinking of 2 separate guitars in one works well.

But the problem has always been keeping the various grounds separate and noise free since the pickup ground is joined at the output jack.

Eliminating the tone knob saves work. (Tone controls are a whole different discussion. Some just go from clear to muddy). I like amp to e controls best, but yeah, I have to get out of my seat.

ultramagnetics adds 4 electronic parts, 2 in the guitar, 2 in the isolating/splitter box to deal with grounding. I am experimenting with a slight change in grounding right now. I will keep you posted.

Figuring out how to wire them can drive you nuts sometimes. ;)

The stereo pickups would probably be great for Jazz.

The Seymour Duncan Triple Shot ring switches might come in handy for controlling at least 2 coils. They're a great asset for many choices.

I am trying to figure out "affordable stereo recording", if that exists. Like you, I searched for old stereo pickups. Rickenbacher, near me, will not sell them.

When wearing headphone or ear buds, the recording sounds great on their site, but to me, the best use of stereo is for funk and heavier bass music. I just play the full chord because the clear bass part sounds awesome.

I was initially told that two 5 way switches could not be done. But it is just like wiring 2 guitars in one. I also converted a Fender Baritone to the stereo system. It came with horrid pickups from Fender. All of the position combinations produce nice tones now. Before, some were just not usable.

Very interesting and thanks for the info.

The old Teisco Spectrum 5 guitars had several small 3 pole pickups and elaborate switching to get a bunch of different sounds. I wanted to do something similar with the Fender pickups, but since they only came on 12 string electrics they weren't easily found and were costly when found. I then thought about using the Delta 3pole pickups that Gitty sells, just haven't got back to it yet.

Saw a video on Youtube of the Ultramagnetic pickup, it had what seemed to be a fuller sound that kinda reminded me of a 12 string.

Do a video if you can.

Both pickup sides, high and low, are kept separate inside the guitar. Each side has its own 5 way switch and volume control. I eliminated tone controls since they never work that well and I needed the room. A stereo output jack sends the signals to a splitter box from Ultramagnetics.com. Then 2 regular guitar cables go to 2 different amps.

These humbuckers have very low output, so I use a stompbox pedal on the left and right sides so that I don't need to run the amps fully cranked.

Each pickup is really 2 in one electrically. There are 3 united coils for strings 1-3 and 3 for 4-6. Then I routed each side to its own 5 way switch. It is actually simple - just like wiring 2 three pickup guitars in one.

Ultramagnetics includes a transformer that is wired into the leads to the stereo output jack. A stereo cord is used that plugs into a splitter box. Then, 2 cords connect to a bass amp and a guitar amp,

Ultramagnetics pickups have 5 wires. Although the pickups look like normal humbuckers, the coils are split between the strings in the middle. But the secret to making these work is the grounding.
