While it may not be the kind of bass you are used to seeing here, it makes use of some of the ideas of CBG building. About 97% recycled material, weedwhacker line for strings. 3 strings tuned F-D-G
Of course I have to say thanks to Mr. Bogdon for inspiration. I spied every scrap of information I could get - to find that the cardboard trees in the US must be way better than here!
So this build features an internal soundboard made of thin plywood, to establish if I can get a more direct tone i.e. any definition at all & some harmonic content (yes!), great acoustic volume (well, not really), and good stability (yes!) direct string pressure to cardboard top bent the whole thing out of shape on my first instrument (see avatar) A four string version should be possible. But I always wanted to try a bass with a low string extension. Next I'd have to construct "capos" to hold down that string at "A" and "G" positions.
And of course I need a matching guitar, a lap style, cardboard housed reso! (Looking for materials at the moment).
