That is exactly what they are, finishing washers actually. I have a solid piece of wood inside and thats what I anchor it all together with.

I am in the process of building my first license plate guitar.I have a dumb question for you.What is on the back of the box?As always nice looking guitar.I will post pictures when I get mine done.
