I suppose it provides some structural support but it's purpose was just to feed the 4 strings through that go up through the body to the bridge and ground the strings to the pu. In this pic it's not strung so you don't see the ends of the strings. I could have cut it down but I just left it the size it was hoping it might add a little support and weight. It fit on there perfect so I just left it alone.

Very clean and tidy in here - and you have a lot more interior support blocks than I used. Now I hope mine doesn't fold up under string tension. :) What is the black plate that the green ground wire is hooked up to? Is that for structural support, or electrical shielding, or something else? Thanks!

Here's some pic of the inside that I took with my phone...I'll try to get some better ones on the site soon.

sweet build tim. yeah I've used those same pickups and have had great results, so cheap too, like 10 bucks shipped, you can't beat building a guitar this nice for less than 50 dollars

Thank you John...i will take some pics of the inside and post soon. This one was a challenge for me. This was my 3rd one and I stretched my abilities to "my" limit. I bought the electronics off ebay for a ridiculously low price and they sound great. Came from China though and took abut 10 days but it was like less than $10 - $15 for the whole schmeer. pickup, tone and volume pots, 1/4 " jack...and it was all wired up. The bridge and tuners came from ebay too. I've probably got $40-$50 tied up in the whole build.

That's a beauty! What type of electronics did you pack inside? Would you be able to post a picture of her "opened up"? I'm thinking about going to a magnetic pickup on my next build and I'm curious how you've hooked it all together.

Thanks!
