I started working on this on a couple days ago. It's gonna be for my step son for Christmas. He's been eyeing up this box since I brought it home. He has no idea I'm building it. The neck is black walnut. The fret board is a scrap piece of wood from work that was used to hold a steel bar onto a pallet. Nice looking piece of scrap I think!

Thanks Carl! I really lucked out with this one. After I sliced off 1/4" for the fret board, all the cool grain was gone.

A nice looking piece indeed, but it figures, all my scrap wood looks like scrap wood - never in the right place at the right time is me ;-)
