Comment by Philip Daniel on December 10, 2009 at 4:17pm: Thanks Nathan. I found the wood lying around my shed but I think it might be Tasmanian oak. Finished with three coats of Scandinavian oil, which I think is just danish oil in a brand name tin. As for the sound, I don't have anything to compare it too but its pretty quiet, as the top of the box does not resonate. Sounds great plugged in though.
