That idea may of the 2 height bridge and nut may work well.   It will work best if you can move the bridge forward or backward - what you want is for your electronic tuner to read the same when the string is plucked open and (an octave higher) at the 12th fret. 

Gecko, I did not start playing until I was 50.  Younger is better, but it's never all the way to late.  Many lessons here and on youtube - right side of this page, 'how to play'.   I always tout knotlennny's CBG 101.   A great starter - especially if you sing some too.

This IS a great hobby.  I love it.  Playing is fun.  Building is fun.  Making music on something you made with your own hands is more fun.  

Charitable is good.  There is no significant profit to selling CBGs for about 99% of us.  Better to gift them.  I am picky on who I gift - I want them played.

Actually hoping to make this hobby in to something charitable. I've been talking to local bands and getting  lot of interest

It looks a little higher in the pic than it is. A friend wanted to try something with more play in strings. But I also stared dual channels in bridge and nut so we can sit two different heights he can change in and out of. Works in theory no clue if it will in practice. lol This is just a hobby for me anyway, I'm a disabled vet can't do very much, just pass the time having fun, oh and trying to learn to play too, never played guitar before.

It looks very good.  Some folks would not mind the string action being so high.  I could do more with it down to say...  a quarter inch at the 12th fret.
