A piezo in the can should work.  If you think you want to electrify.

Uncle John, I thought about putting a piezo there AFTER I put the cap in to cover that hole (I used this wood to test a hole saw that I couldn't read the size of for one of the other builds.)

I was thinking about putting the piezo in the can... but I'm now wondering if it would work in the wood like that? I might do one on the opposite side close to the tin then.

Dave- The knot hole was the reason I decided to use this piece of wood.
